What is the Root of Sin?
It is true that “The Root of Sin,” as a phrase, is not found in the scriptures. But what did the Lord mean when he spoke to Rose,
“I have removed the root of sin”?
Definition: root of sin
The nature that all are born with, that nature which is against the Lord God.
The investigation continues: for all worthy seekers, those desiring Perfection, the question will be answered.
Field Investigation~
We had not known her in those earlier days; the times of smoking, swearing and temper. But we had witnessed the goodness and purity. That sin had once been there was evident. That it had been removed, was even more clear and certain. We had seen it ourselves. No one could convince us otherwise.
But we’ve been reading the Bible for over 20 years. We knew it didn’t meniton a “root of sin.” How strange. What was the Lord talking about when he told her he had removed it?
We began to investigate.
It was never intended for everyone to understand the mysteries of the Kingdom. But to the Sons of God, who have been called and chosen, and are faithful and obedient, who want nothing but the truth of God, to them are the secrets revealed. ®1
1® Matthew 13:10-11, 13, 16-17 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables? He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given… Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand… But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
There is more to salvation then the cleansing blood of Jesus forgiving us of our sins. We are meant to be totally and completely FREE of sin: in the image of God: one with him. ®2 2® Genesis 1:26-27 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. To be free of sin, we must eliminate the cause, or ROOT, of our sin. ®3
3® I John 3:2-5 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
When God created man, he put him in the Garden of Eden and gave him the job of taking care of the Garden. The only restriction placed on man was not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, because God’s only plan was for man to know only good and not evil. ®4 4® Genesis 2:15-17 And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. When they decided to disobey, sin entered into the world and is passed down upon all men. ®5
5® Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
We are all conceived in sin and formed in wickedness; ®6 6® Psalm 51:5 Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. this is our spiritual inheritance; passed on through every generation just like our physical characteristics. Of course our physical characteristics are not identical, otherwise we would all be the same height and build, with the same color of eyes and hair. So too are our roots of sin individually different, depending on how sin took shape in our parents, how we were brought up, what religions and doctrines we are taught, and how the root is fed and grows in us during the course of our lives.
All unrighteousness or breaking of God’s law is sin. ®7 7® I John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. We are tempted when we are enticed by our lusts, and when we act upon those lusts, we sin. ®8 8® James 1:14-15 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. Lust is any evil, fleshly desire; things that we really want, but that have nothing to do with loving and believing God and following his will. These works (or fruits) of the flesh include fornication, greed, envy, murder, arguing, deceit, hatred, backbiting, pride, disobedience, lying, anger, stealing, bitterness, spite, uncleanness, indecency, idolatry, witchcraft, rivalry, heresy, drunkenness, and revelry. ®9, 10
9® Galatians 5:17-21 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
10® Romans 1:29-32 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
Because of Jesus sin is no more!
He said, “Go and sin no more”

If we love God, we keep his commandments. ®11 11® John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. Therefore, if we do not keep his commandments (which is what sin is), it is because we do not love him. ®12, 13 12® I John 5:2-3 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
13® I John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. God’s first and most important commandment was that we love him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. ®14 14® Mark 12:29-30 The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. But the human heart is deceitfully wicked, and the fleshly (carnal) mind is naturally hostile towards God. ®15, 16 15® Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
16® Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So the root from which sin grows is in our hearts and minds, the very centers of our fleshly selves.
Each of us has a root and it is sin.
Envy . Hatred . Pride
Lust . Fornication
Therefore, let us put on the mind of Christ.
